In Delirious Departures, we worked with the scans of railway stations that had accidental artefacts of travelers. Instead of filtering out junk 3D, we emphasized these static figures with their sculptural qualities.
We needed other figures, that we could animate and make interactive. I approach 3D more and more as one does clay or other material in sculpture, not so much in a hands-on matter, but as a material that has intrinsic qualities that can someties best be left raw.

I started scanning team members with the Leica scanner, this is a bad idea altogether, as it is much too slow, people move slighty between scans and the resolution is too low.
By applying algorithms that thicken the 3D material and then removing chunks with noises, we came to what we call the mud figures, disjointed cloth like figures that are ethereal (and a bit scary).
